The smart place to invest Southend-on-Sea
The largest town in Essex, Southend is not only one of the country’s major tourist destinations, but also has a vibrant business community.

Southend-on-Sea

Southend-on-Sea is the largest town in Essex, with a population of around 176,000. Located at the mouth of the Thames Estuary, the town is the closest resort to London, being only 40 miles east of the capital.

Southend is a busy tourist destination, with a world famous pier, an extensive beach, with all its associated leisure facilities and attractions, excellent shopping facilities and numerous restaurants, wine bars and pubs. There are two direct railway lines to London, and the M25 motorway is less than half an hour away. In addition, Southend also has its own airport.

Due to its inclusion in the Thames Gateway area, as well as European Objective Two status, and £55 million Local Transport Plan allocation, the Southend-on-Sea area offers new inward investors a prosperous and successful business location. Potential for commercial and business development exists on a number of sites in the town centre and throughout the borough.

The town is currently a hive of economic activity with many development initiatives underway, including major investments by the University of Essex and Royal Bank of Scotland, and even more in the pipeline. This new era of development is an exciting time for Southend, and the town is looking forward to a bright and prosperous future.
