Quality of life
A Sunday Times survey identified Essex as the best region in the UK for quality of domestic life in England 2001. Hardly surprising when Essex is an extremely lively and picturesque county, giving the best of all worlds in which to work, rest and play.
Although next to London, Essex is a largely rural county with many market towns, traditional villages and tiny hamlets linked by quiet country lanes. Undulating farmland is interspersed with small woodlands, the views interrupted by mighty oaks and ashes presided over by the hurrying skies.
Essex has a multitude of places and attractions to visit, from old world charm to modern shopping malls, Essex has it all. Along the Essex sunshine coast (it has the driest climate in the UK), peaceful estuaries and historic ports have a unique maritime character but most of the Essex coast is undisturbed and undeveloped. Much of the 200 miles of Essex coastline is remote and therefore a haven for wildlife.
