Harlow
Harlow has an excellent location providing easy access to UK, European and World markets. It is situated mid-way along the M11 (Junction 7), 25 miles north of London and 38 miles south of Cambridge. The M11 links up with the M25 at Junction 27.
Harlow Town and Harlow Mill Stations offer good rail links to London, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. Stansted Airport, one of Europe’s fastest growing airports, is situated just 20 minutes away by road or rail.
Harlow is a leading centre for innovation in the East of England with both GlaxoSmithKline and Nortel Networks centralising their European research and development activities here. It is the chosen location for many major international companies.
Harlow is set in the heart of Essex and Hertfordshire countryside. Careful planning ensures the town sustains a balance between the needs of business and the environment. The town maintains a rural atmosphere with over one third of land use devoted to parks, woodlands, ponds and open spaces.
Harlow has a population of 79,000 that is forecast to rise to 84,000 over the next 10 years. Harlow has matured since its designation as a New Town over 50 years ago. It is a modern, thriving community and a popular location to live and work. The town has over 1,500 companies and employs over 36,000 people primarily in the manufacturing, wholesale/retail and business sectors.
Business support agencies in Harlow partnered in 2002 to form the Harlow Centre for Business Support. The new centre provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for business guidance and support.
