Epping Forest
The Epping Forest district stretches northward from its boundary with Greater London right into the heart of rural Essex.Covering an area of 131 square miles, the district has an estimated population of 118,000.
The greatest population concentration is in the commuter towns of Loughton, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill.
Situated in the Metropolitan green belt, Epping Forest offers easy reach of both the countryside and the city.
The district is strategically located with easy access to the M11, M25 and A414. Stansted Airport is located north of the district, and easily accessible from the M11 or by rail.
Recent investment into the district includes a new 65,000 square metre regional distribution centre for Sainsburys supermarkets at Waltham Point and the refurbishment, and relaunch, of The Fyfield Business and Research Park, a rural landscaped campus with leisure facilities. This park has been developed to encourage research and development companies to relocate from London and Cambridge.
These developments seek to reconcile the protection of the most valued characteristics of the district with future development and regeneration needs.
